From the fact that people are very different it follows that, if we treat them equally, the result must be inequality in their actual position, and that the only way to place them in an equal position would be to treat them differently. Equality before the law and material equality are therefore not only different but are in conflict with each other; and we can achieve either one or the other, but not both at the same time

A Brief Economics Lesson for Obama Supporters

... you know, the lemmings shown in this video. Anyway, here's what Obama believes:
It's not change when he (McCain) wants to give $200 billion to the biggest corporation or $4 billion to the oil companies when today, Exxon-Mobil announced that it had made the greatest profits of any corporation in the history of the world: $14 billion in one quarter. That's all your money. You are -- you are paying it at the gas station. That's not change when John McCain comes up with a tax plan that doesn't give a penny of relief to more than 100 million middle-class Americans.
To the economic illiterates who buy into this argument, note that once a person gives his money freely in a voluntary exchange of currency for a commodity, that money does not belong to him anymore. It's not surprising that the Prince of Redistribution does not understand this concept, given his education. But why in the world would anyone living in the real-world buy into this stuff?

To the Obama lemmings out there: If not the freedom to engage freely in economic transactions, what? Do you want Mommy or Daddy to buy your gas for you?

Amazing...

What Cliff? I Don't See a Cliff

The lemmings ask you to march over the cliff with them...

My God, this is amazing. There are people in this video who actually graduated from grade school.

Media Biased in favor of Obama: Left and Right Agree!

Two studies out in the past couple of days show that it's not just conservatives who see a strong tilt by journalists in favor of the Democrats: A nonpartisan media monitoring group and a liberal-leaning research organization both confirm the pro-Obama, anti-McCain bias of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC.

In reports this week, the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) and the Pew-funded Project for Excellence in Journalism (PEJ) found the most balanced campaign coverage was on the Fox News Channel, although PEJ claimed FNC's balance was actually a right-leaning bias, since it deviated from the "norm" of other big media:

More on Obama's Auntie

Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

Washington Post: Obama to return Aunt's Donations

By now you've heard that Obama's aunt, living in poverty in a Boston slum, may be an illegal immigrant. More interestingly, she has contributed money to Obama's campaign. As a matter of truth, I fully understand her desire to contribute to her nephew's campaign. Moreover, I have no problem with her contributing whatsoever. I do have a problem with the Obama campaign's returning the contribution because she is a foreign national. If Obama's people with so concerned about such contributions, why in the world don't they comply with federal campaign finance laws concerning credit card validation?

Conservatism's Blonde Moment

... a must read for conservatives dismayed by the reasoning behind the defections of some conservative commentators.

At the same time, we have the ever sharp, brown-haired, psychiatrist cum pundit, Charles Krauthammer on why McCain is the best choice for Prez. He has two articles that are must reading. Read this one first, then this one.

Gosh, I'd like someone to post to this blog, or send to me, a reasoned response to Krauthammer's arguments.

Zogby has McCain in 1 Point lead...

Credibility of LATIMES Called into Question

The Bookworm responds to James Taranto's acceptance of the LATIMES rationalization for withholding the Obama tape from the public. When I first read Taranto's article, I was unable to put my finger on what bothered me about his argument. The Bookworm has it just right...

Education is not all that bad...

...provided the knowledge gained is contingent to truth as this timeline depicts. We have reaped the whirlwind of recession because we substituted the emotion of compassion for the wisdom of experience. Read this article, How Mortgage Crisis Happened: Good Intentions Paved Dire Path.

The Value of Wisdom over Intelligence

The Investor's Business Daily argues that intelligence and education, so highly valued by the Left, are of little consequence in a world whose issues turn on principle, not technical know-how.

And now, for something completely different...

A little nostalgia for those of you old enough to remember. I certainly do and yes, most teenagers of the late 50s really did dance this way. The beauty of coordinated exuberance is bracing and, in a culture of narcissism, all the more nostalgic.

It's probably why quite a few of us watch Dancing With The Stars and have never really bought into the idea that dance is an individual activity.
